昨天一整天都忙于本科毕业论文的答辩工作。很累，倒是对一篇本科论文的标题很感兴趣。汉语标题里含有“渗透文化知识”的字眼，英文标题里却相应地翻译成了“Infiltrating Cultural Knowledge”。看后，我大为惊奇：竟有这样的搭配。我遂发问，你知道infiltrate一词的含义吗？他解释道，是指导老师改的。

第一个义项显然是“使(思想、人员等)渗透”的意思，往往含有贬义，与中文中的“卧底”很像。第二个义项则是“使(液体等)透过,渗入”的意思，或者是“蔓延”之意。由此可见，“渗透文化知识”翻译为“infiltrating cultural knowledge”实在不妥。我们从中可以掂量搭配恰当的重要性和勤翻词典的必要性。
