布勃卡是来自乌克兰的著名跳高运动员，人称“空中飞人”。布勃卡在其辉煌的运动生涯中35次打破男子撑杆跳的世界纪录。其中室外17次，他是田径史上打破世界纪录次数最多的人。布勃卡通常每次都将世界纪录提高1厘米，因此也有人称他为“一厘米先生”。目前“女飞人”伊辛巴耶娃的目标就是超越布勃卡的35次纪录。

布勃卡的技术特点是握杆点高，助跑快，起跳积极有力，“弯杆”技术相当出色，能充分利用和发挥撑杆的物理性能。他的百米跑10秒02，跳远7.80米，持杆助跑速度最高达每秒9.6米，这些素质对布勃卡在一系列比赛中创造优异成绩奠定了良好的基础。人们说，观看布勃卡撑杆跳高，简直是一种艺术享受，他把体育运动中最快的速度、最高的飞跃、最完美的技巧和最惊险的效果都融合在一起了。

布勃卡被前联邦德国《国际体育通讯》评为1984年和1985年世界最佳运动员之一；被世界上许多体育报刊和通讯社评为1984年世界十佳；1985年获法国体育学院大奖。他多次被评为年度世界最佳运动员。1999年当选为国际奥委会委员。

布勃卡，S?(Sergey Bubka，1963.12.4～)国际奥委会委员，乌克兰撑竿跳高运动员。身高1.83米，体重80公斤。10岁时开始撑竿跳高专项训练。自1983年起多次在世界大赛中取胜和创造世界纪录，是撑竿跳高史上成就最突出的选手。1988年在第24届奥运会上获金牌；1992年在第25届奥运会上失利。


这是近年来他在世界大赛中仅有的一次失败。他在1983、1987、1991年3届世界锦标赛中均获冠军，是锦标赛自1983年创办以来三连冠的两名选手之一(另一个为美国跨栏老将G.福斯特)。自1985年始在世界杯田径赛和世界室内锦标赛多次取胜。自1984～1993年，共34次破室内、室外世界纪录。其中，18次创室内纪录，将成绩从5.81米提高到6.15米；16次创室外纪录，将成绩由5.85米升到6.13米。近10年来，他一直保持世界室内外世界纪录，并自1984年始多次被评为世界最佳运动员。苏联解体后，1991年底全家移居德国柏林，继续从事撑竿跳高运动。
